John Humphreys, Program VP, Enterprise Platforms, IDC
John Humphreys is a Program VP with IDC's Enterprise Platform Group where he heads up the Enterprise Virtualization Software program covering the range of virtualization products deployed in both data center and client environments. The program also examines the role of manageability in the emerging virtual environment. Additional areas of focus include the adoption of blade servers, the modularization of the data center along with the automation and virtualization of the data center environment, and the emergence of grid computing in the enterprise.
Prior to joining IDC, John worked in the energy industry where he combined his geological and geophysical background along with an interest in unconventional exploration opportunities to develop risk profiles, technical and financial models for a wide range of projects, including a division portfolio analysis, strategic analysis related to company positioning, and complex reservoir development programs. His interest technology and in examining emerging market opportunities is what led John to IDC in 1999.
Mr. Humphreys received a B.A and M.S. from Miami University and University of Wyoming respectively.
Rod Marten, Assistant Director of Strategic Information Technology, Maricopa Community College District
Rod Marten is the Assistant Director of Strategic Information Technology at Maricopa Community Colleges. Rod is responsible for systems, networks and security. His current projects include improving operational efficiency with server consolidation through and enterprise management. Rod has 17 years experience in IT support for academia including tech support, programming, teaching, systems design and management.
Aaron Holzer, Technology Manager, Microsoft
Aaron Holzer is a Technology Manager in Microsoft’s Windows Server organization responsible for virtualization technology and the Microsoft relationship with Novell. Prior to joining Microsoft, Aaron spent seven years at Intel where he was a Senior Product Marketing Engineer in Intel's Server Platform Group responsible for server virtualization marketing strategies as well as a Strategic Relationship Manager responsible for Intel's technical and business activities with key ISVs. Before Joining Intel, Aaron spent nearly 21 years at Digital Equipment and Compaq in various technical and marketing roles. Aaron has a BS and MS in Computer Sciences from the City College of NY as well as an MBA from Boston College.
Steve Griffiths, Open Platform Specialist, Novell
Steve has over 15 years of IT industry experience with background in software development, CRM consulting, and sales of identity management and Linux/open source solutions. He has worked extensively with companies from telecommunications, high-tech manufacturing, financial services and insurance as well as State government. He is currently responsible for Novell's Linux sales to the Manufacturing industry.
Pete Kronowitt, Software Strategist, Software and Solutions Group, Intel Corporation
Pete Kronowitt is a Software Strategist in the Software and Solutions Group at Intel Corporation. The Software and Solutions Group (SSG) is responsible for enabling the Intel Architecture products through operating system, Software Vendor, solutions, and core system software technology enabling. SSG provides leading-edge products such as compilers, libraries, and tools that allow customers to get the full performance benefit of Intel architectures. Pete is responsible for developing and managing the worldwide program for Linux operating system vendors at Intel. He consults with Linux distributors, industry and community for enhancement of Linux for Itanium and IA-32 processors architectures and strategic platforms.
Pete also directs alignment of key relationships with Linux-based and open source software companies to align Intel's product and technology development to improve product introductions into the market place.
Peter has 20 years in the high-tech sector, with IBM, Xircom and more than ten years with Intel, leading global teams for market and platform roadmap development in the worldwide channel, directing software ecosystem relationships for new Intel platforms. He has been evangelizing Linux and Open Source within Intel and the industry since 2000, and regularly contributes to Intel's corporate Open Source strategy. Pete has formerly held positions as board observer in JBoss as part of an Intel Capital equity investment, a founding and Steering Committee member of the Open Business Readiness Rating.
Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld
Ron manages the events business and strategic business programs for IT executive titles in storage networking, mobile and wireless, data center and business intelligence market sectors. Milton leads the team responsible for creating content, sponsor sales, operations, marketing and audience development for all of Computerworld's events, such as brands like Premier 100 IT Leaders, Storage Networking World, Mobile & Wireless World, Business Intelligence Perspectives and IT Executive Summit Series. He has 20+ years of experience in information technology, serving in both vendor and information services management positions. Before his current role at IDG, Ron was Senior Vice President of CXO Media and General Manager of CIO Magazine's Executive Program Divisions.
Prior to joining Computerworld in 1999, he was President and CEO of IDG's Internet Commerce (ICE) business unit, which he founded in 1996 as a start-up business, and was a pioneer in using e-commerce systems and web marketing. He was a 1996 recipient of the coveted IDG Chairman's Award for the most successful start-up business globally. Before joining IDG, Milton spent five years as Vice President/Partner of GLA computer Systems, a software developer and channel integrator with market share leadership in wholesale travel solutions. Prior to GLA, he also held a variety of management positions in channel management, field sales and marketing at Honeywell Information Systems and Bull HN. He holds degrees from Concordia University and Sir George Williams University.
