Al Gillen, Research Vice President, System Software, IDC
As research vice president, system software, Al Gillen is responsible for research and analysis on client and server operating systems, software appliances, and related infrastructure software. The primary focus of his operating environments research is on Linux, Windows, and Unix.
Al brings 26 years of computer industry experience to IDC. His research at IDC has included participation in studies on total cost of ownership for Linux, Windows and Unix systems in both client and server configurations, as well as assisting in IDC's recurring demand-side research covering the growth and evolution of the Linux market.
Prior to joining IDC in 1999, Al was editor-in-chief of ENT and served as editor-in-chief of MIDRANGE Systems. He spent the first 10 years of his career at an engineering firm where he performed embedded system design, development and real time programming. Al holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld
Ron manages the events business, strategic alliances and awards programs for IT executive titles and IT management in storage networking, mobile and wireless, infrastructure/data center, business intelligence and green IT market sectors. Milton leads the team responsible for creating content, sponsor sales, operations, marketing and audience development for all of Computerworld's events, such as brands like Premier 100 IT Leaders®, Storage Networking World®, Mobile & Wireless World®, Infrastructure Management World®, Business Intelligence Perspectives®, Green IT Symposium® and 30-40 IT Executive Summits and Executive Roundtables per year. He is also responsible for the same businesses at InfoWorld® and the Computerworld Honors Program®.
He has 25 years of experience in information technology, serving in both vendor and information services management positions. Before his current role at IDG, Ron was Senior Vice President of CXO Media and General Manager of CIO Magazine's Executive Program Division. Prior to joining Computerworld in 1999, he was President and CEO of IDG's Internet Commerce (ICE) business unit, which he founded in 1996 as a start-up business, and was a pioneer in using e-commerce systems and web marketing. He was a 1996 recipient of the coveted IDG Chairman's Award for the most successful start-up business globally. Before joining IDG, Milton spent five years as Vice President/Partner of GLA computer Systems, a software developer and channel integrator with market share leadership in wholesale travel solutions. Prior to GLA, he also held a variety of management positions in channel management, field sales and marketing at Honeywell Information Systems and Bull HN. He holds degrees from Concordia University and Sir George Williams University.
JS Riehl, Category Specialist, Novell
JS Riehl is a Technology Specialist for open source and data center management products at Novell. Prior to joining Novell, JS worked for Hewlett-Packard in Singapore, South Africa and in the U.S. where he contributed to a number of projects, including mobility and security solutions for HP laptops and PDAs as well as Linux-based PCs specifically designed to meet the needs of Emerging Countries. JS earned a Master of Science degree in Microelectronics from ESIEE school, France. He lives in San Francisco, CA with his wife and son.
Steven Wilder, Windows Server Technology Specialist, Microsoft
Steven Wilder is a Windows Server Technology Specialist with Microsoft Corporation in the San Francisco Bay Area. He regularly discusses issues relating to identity management, operational efficiency, and various IT architectural topics with some of Microsoft’s biggest Northern California customers. He has been with Microsoft since 1994 and works at the Silicon Valley Campus (SVC) in Mountain View.
Michael Williams, Executive Director, Information Technology, Immune Tolerance Network
Michael Williams joined the Immune Tolerance Network from Cable and Wireless, Inc. where he managed a global team of 30 IT engineers, project managers and managers. He was responsible for the engineering, implementation, and support of systems and networks into Tier 1 data center facilities located on four continents, serving customers such as UBS Warburg, Fox Networks and Cisco Systems. This, and previous experience in IT outsourcing professional services, has contributed to Michael’s deep knowledge of mission-critical, secured, enterprise class Information Technology networks, systems and application solutions.
Michael holds a Master’s degree in Instructional Systems and Technology from the University of Minnesota. He is currently the Immune Tolerance Network’s Executive Director of Information Technology.
Jose Zero, Enterprise Technology Specialist, Intel
Jose Zero is an Enterprise Technology Specialist with Intel Corporation helping key enterprise customers understand and implement Intel technologies. He has 20 years experience in the technology sector, and has specialized in systems architecture and migration, software architecture, and large parallel systems design and configuration.
