John Humphreys, Program Vice President, Enterprise Platforms, IDC
John Humphreys is a Program VP with IDC's Enterprise Platform Group where he heads up the Enterprise Virtualization Software program covering the range of virtualization products deployed in both data center and client environments. The program also examines the role of manageability in the emerging virtual environment. Additional areas of focus include the adoption of blade servers, the modularization of the data center along with the automation and virtualization of the data center environment, and the emergence of grid computing in the enterprise.
Prior to joining IDC, John worked in the energy industry where he combined his geological and geophysical background along with an interest in unconventional exploration opportunities to develop risk profiles, technical and financial models for a wide range of projects, including a division portfolio analysis, strategic analysis related to company positioning, and complex reservoir development programs. His interest technology and in examining emerging market opportunities is what led John to IDC in 1999.
John received a B.A and M.S. from Miami University and University of Wyoming respectively.
Brian Marranzini, Network & Security Technology Solutions Professional, Microsoft
Brian Marranzini is a Network and security Technology Solutions Professional focusing on Windows Server, infrastructure and security. He joined Microsoft 8 years ago as a TAM and then spent a considerable amount of time helping customers fight almost all of the major virus outbreaks including but not limited to Code Red, Nimbda, SQL Slammer and more. He later worked on the team that developed a Securing Enterprise Platforms workshop that was taught both internally and directly to customers around the world.
Brian has authored various articles for MCP Magazine, delivered webcasts on virus mitigation techniques, Limited user access, and the Windows XP SP2 firewall. Prior to joining Microsoft, Brian worked for and managed a team of security consultants offering security penetration testing, firewall configuration, security architecture, and core infrastructure consulting.
Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld
Ron manages the events business and strategic business programs for IT executive titles in storage networking, mobile and wireless, data center and business intelligence market sectors. Milton leads the team responsible for creating content, sponsor sales, operations, marketing and audience development for all of Computerworld's events, such as brands like Premier 100 IT Leaders, Storage Networking World, Mobile & Wireless World, Business Intelligence Perspectives and IT Executive Summit Series. He has 20+ years of experience in information technology, serving in both vendor and information services management positions. Before his current role at IDG, Ron was Senior Vice President of CXO Media and General Manager of CIO Magazine's Executive Program Divisions.
Prior to joining Computerworld in 1999, he was President and CEO of IDG's Internet Commerce (ICE) business unit, which he founded in 1996 as a start-up business, and was a pioneer in using e-commerce systems and web marketing. He was a 1996 recipient of the coveted IDG Chairman's Award for the most successful start-up business globally. Before joining IDG, Milton spent five years as Vice President/Partner of GLA computer Systems, a software developer and channel integrator with market share leadership in wholesale travel solutions. Prior to GLA, he also held a variety of management positions in channel management, field sales and marketing at Honeywell Information Systems and Bull HN. He holds degrees from Concordia University and Sir George Williams University.
Mary Leonardo Patry, Vice President, IT Infrastructure Services, Information Technology, American Red Cross
Mary Leonardo Patry is Vice President of the IT Infrastructure Services Division for the American Red Cross. In her role as a senior leader, Mary provides technology platform and network services to the American Red Cross lines of business. She is responsible for IT Customer Support, End-User Support, Application Support, Telecommunications, IT Operations, Configuration Management, and IT Deployment and Training.
Prior to joining the Red Cross in 2006, Mary was the CIO of Educap, Inc., a $350 million financial services organization specializing in online student lending.
Before she began her work at Educap, Ms. Patry served as the chief information officer (CIO) for SimplexGrinnell—a major business segment of Tyco International Ltd.
With more than 25 years of experience defining technical vision and direction and delivering insightful IT solutions, Mary has held a number of management and technology leadership positions with companies such as Freddie Mac and Mariner Post Acute Network. She has also served as an independent IT management consultant for the public and private sectors.
Ron Parker, Market Development Manager, Intel
Ron Parker is the Market Development Manager for the Military Aerospace and Government Segment within the Embedded and Communications and Enterprise Solutions Sales Groups for Intel Corporation. He is responsible for accelerating the adoption of standards based, modular building blocks used in the deployment of netcentric infrastructure with a primary focus on optimizing spiral technology insertion across the net enabled enterprise. Ron is a frequent speaker within the industry. He has spent the last 13 years in the embedded and enterprise computing and communications industry, spending his last eight years with Intel Corporation.
Mark Richards, Technology Specialist, Novell
Mark Richards has over fifteen years of information systems experience that ranges from analysis, design and implementation to project leadership. Mark has spent over 10 years working at Novell and currently works as a Technology Specialist in the Linux Business Unit and focuses on data center solutions.
